I should like to introduce you to the above organisation which is a means whereby persons wishing the use of story tellers for any event being held by them can contact the above address and obtain the services of story tellers of many types including Traditional Scottish/Highland, Gaelic, modern stories and stories for younger children.
The contents of the stories cover a vast range from the ancient hero stories through stories of giants, Little people, Monsters, Witches, Wizards, Water horses, Seal people etc. to stories of the Jacobites, the Clearances and the 1st and 2nd World Wars and even some stories of the present day so the scope is vast.
Most of the story tellers are S.A.C. approved and as a result where they are requested for a school, library or similar organisation the fees can be subsidised under its scheme details of which can be obtained from the S.A.C. or from this organisation on request. If you wish a story teller for a festival or other function (or singer)(or several) please contact us and we will give you details of costs. These can be adjusted to suit individual circumstances.
Our heading HIST not only is the initials for Highlands and Islands Story Tellers but is a word for listen derived from the Gaelic Eisd which also givers the Scottish Wheesht so we feel it is very appropriate.
