Gordon Gooch <GogiG@aol.com> Edinburgh, UK - Found this site by accident while looking for information on the sexy hunk of man that played Robert the Bruce in Braveheart. This page looked almost as good as Bruce. miriam sydney, australia - When I was in the US Air Force stationed at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxon between 1968 and 1972, I had a number of opportunities to visit Scotland, and have returned twice since then, the last time in 1983 on my honeymoon. I have great memories and hope someday to return. The Isle of Skye is one of my favorite places in the world. I would also like to visit Iona. Stewart McDonald <mcdonaldjohnson@tdn.com> Longview, WA US - Hi there, your Gael-net pages were a tremendous help in planning and organizing our 1997 summer holiday. I didn't expect you were that far in using modern techniques. All in all your set of home pages - from accomodation thru travel - raised a tremendous 'pre-joy' to what will come in a few months Luisa & Ullrich Sattes <Sattes@t-online.de> Marienmuenster, D - We have stayed several times on Skye and have found that one of the most beautiful spots there is the unlikely named Uig. We have stayed with Mrs. Pam Mackenzie on those occasions and recommend her hospitality as the best we have encountered in our various stays in Scotland as a whole. At 15 pounds/person, her home and breakfasts are a real deal. Also, we are swapping houses with a couple in Edinburgh for three months in the spring of 1997. Since we want to travel to Skye and the Outer Islands, we have rented a car. But, the people with whom we are swapping houses contend that we will find no place to park our car in Edinburgh and conclude that having a rental car for trips outside of Edinburgh is an impossibility. They have not offered suggestions for dealing with finding sensible ways to park a car in Edinburgh. Any suggestions? Robin Matthews <wmatthew@knox.edu> Berkeley, Ca US - Great web sight! My wife and I were in Scotland in 1991. We are returning this summer with our son who graduates from college in May. During ou first trip we stayed at a B&B in Kelso. This was the best placed we found during our entire trip. The name of the B&B was Wooden. Can anyone tell us if this is still a B&B? We are having trouble finding information about it. Thanks. We are staying for three weeks this time. Love the country and it.s people. Bruce MacInnis <macin@GREENNET.net> Salisbury, MA USA - With one word: excellent! Michael Dornieden <MDORNIEDEN@MSN:COM> Wuppertal, D - THIS IS WHAT I“VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!! My husband and I spent some WONDERFUL days last September (-96) on wonderful Isle of Skye, together with two friends. We stayed for two nights at Harry“s Hotel in the blue house on the pier ( spectacular view!). On Sunday afternoon we popped in at the bar ( I don“t know the name of it) on the street above the harbour, and imagine our sense of utter happiness when a local pipe and drum band were playing there! They had just come home from a competition on Uist and they kept playing for as long as they could stand on their feet! That“s a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life! I just LOVE bagpipes, and the only negative thing to say about your homepage is that no such music was represented at Culture/Music! We“re planning on going back to the western Highlands and Skye in September. See you all then!! Magdalena Olsson |
