When you are choosing your holiday from home, quality and comfort are too important to leave to chance. That is why, since 1985, STB has been systematically inspecting hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfasts and self-catering accommodation, defining the standards that our visitors expect and helping owners and operators to meet those standards. In a two-tier scheme, accommodation all over the country - from the simplest to the most sophisticated - is GRADED for quality and CLASSIFIED for its facilities. Here is how it works:
Every establishment in the scheme is visited each year
Explanation of GRADING
APPROVED - offering an acceptable standard
COMMENDED - offering a good standard
HIGHLY COMMENDED - offering a very good standard
DELUXE - offering an excellent standard
Explanation of CLASSIFICATION
Crowns denote the range of facilities on offer - things such as private bathrooms, lounges, meal provision and so on. From a basic LISTED classification, up to five crowns can be added.
MORE CROWNS MEANS MORE FACILITIES.
